Forensic methodology following NIST SP 800-86 and ISO 27037: the forensic process, order of volatility (RFC 3227), evidence integrity, KAPE triage collection, and disk imaging with dc3dd and ewfacquire. Use when collecting or preserving evidence during an investigation.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Forensic Methodology > Evidence collection, preservation, analysis, and reporting methodology following NIST SP 800-86 and ISO 27037 standards. ## Knowledge Base ### The Forensic Process (NIST SP 800-86) NIST defines four phases: **1. Collection**: Identifying and gathering evidence from relevant sources. The priority is to preserve evidence integrity and collect volatile evidence before it is lost. **2. Examination**: Processing the collected evidence to extract relevant data. This includes disk image mounting, log parsing, artifact extraction, and keyword searching. **3. Analysis**: Interpreting the extracted data to answer the investigation questions. This includes timeline reconstruction, correlation across sources, and hypothesis testing. **4. Reporting**: Documenting the findings, methodology, and conclusions in a format appropriate for the audience (technical, management, or legal). ### Order of Volatility (RFC 3227) Evidence must be collected in order of volatility -- most volatile first: 1. **CPU registers and cache** (nanoseconds -- effectively uncollectable) 2. **Memory (RAM)** (lost on power-off -- collect immediately) …

How to install
mdr add hermeticormus/libresecops-claude-code/forensic-methodology@sha256:5bb1891514a6e1adThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260930.71a2663, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
