## Scope

Diagnosis and root-cause repair of a specific, observed misbehaviour: test
failures, build failures, runtime errors, wrong output, flakiness, corruption,
and performance regressions. Language- and stack-agnostic; the project's own
commands are always the ones to run.

Not covered — do not answer from this skill:

- Writing a feature that does not exist yet — that is the
  `test-driven-development` skill; this one starts from a symptom.
- Test-runner and framework API details (fixture syntax, mocking APIs,
  assertion libraries). Use the ecosystem skill or the tool's own docs.
- Production telemetry design: metric names, dashboards, alerts, sampling.
  Temporary instrumentation to catch one bug is in scope; a permanent
  observability design is not. Where a local failure can be reproduced, use
  the `debugging` skill; where only production signals exist (logs, metrics,
  traces, alerts), this is the `observability` skill's job.
- Reviewing a diff for quality or security — that is the `code-review` skill.

How to install

The line at the top of this page pins the label v2026.10.15, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved.
