Instrument Flight School with OpenTelemetry traces, metrics, and logs in line with the OTel GenAI semantic conventions and the Aspire dashboard's OTLP receiver.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# OpenTelemetry skill Use this skill whenever you are adding or modifying observability code in Flight School — new spans, new histograms, log enrichment, trace propagation, browser instrumentation, or anything touching the OTLP exporter wiring. This skill is **opinionated**: the wider OTel ecosystem offers many ways to do each of these things, and we have picked one. Deviating without a reason creates work for every future contributor. ## Provenance This skill adapts patterns from the following MIT-licensed sources: - [`cedricziel/claude-otel-plugin`](https://github.com/cedricziel/claude-otel-plugin) — Next.js + browser OTel patterns. - [`oribarilan/97`](https://github.com/oribarilan/97) `skills/observability/principles.md` — cardinality discipline and golden-signals framing. - [`rand/cc-polymath`](https://github.com/rand/cc-polymath) `skills/observability/opentelemetry-integration.md` — exporter / sampling reasoning. How to install
mdr add chrisreddington/flight-school/opentelemetry@sha256:5b893d57637a157aThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260529.a59623a, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
