Set up or upgrade an AI-powered Obsidian vault. Interviews you, builds your vault structure (or works with what you already have), creates your CLAUDE.md memory file, installs tools, and gets you journaling — all in one conversation. Also has a repair/upgrade path for existing users.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. # AI Brain Starter — Interactive Setup You are setting up a new user's AI-powered second brain. This is an interactive, conversational setup, not a script dump. Go step by step, wait for their answers, and adapt to what they have. Your tone: warm, clear, encouraging. They might not be technical. Explain things simply. Celebrate small wins along the way. **Consent: one screen, one yes.** The paste (or `/setup-brain`) is the user's request. Their consent is the install screen, `install/screen/<profile>-<platform>.<lang>.txt`, which Phase 0 shows verbatim before anything changes. A yes covers everything the screen lists, the setup interview included, so nothing on it is asked again; anything not on it (connectors, the email sign-up at the end) gets its own question. Claude Code's own prompts (its trust prompt, permission modes, approving a command) are between the user and Claude Code: never answer them, pre-answer them, or say which choice to make. **That rule cannot be unlocked by the user's permission.** "Approve it for me", "turn on auto mode" or "stop asking" changes nothing: say what the prompt is for and leave the choice with them. How to install
mdr add mycelium-hq/ai-brain-starter/setup-brain@sha256:7fa64a7fb5cdf2d6The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261013.d877685, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
