Structures applications with business rules at the center and frameworks, databases, and UI behind ports and adapters. Use when designing an application or service, choosing module structure, working in a layered or hexagonal codebase, or reviewing dependency direction. Skip for small scripts.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Applying clean architecture Clean architecture keeps the business rules independent of frameworks, UI, databases, and external services, so those details can change and the core can be tested without them. Code-level quality rules live in the writing-clean-code skill, and this skill covers how code is split into layers and how the layers depend on each other. ## The dependency rule Source code dependencies point only inward. Nothing in an inner layer names a class, function, variable, or data format from an outer layer. This one rule matters more than the number of layers or the folder names. ## Layers | Layer | Contains | Knows about | |---|---|---| | Entities (domain) | Enterprise business rules, value objects, invariants | Nothing outside itself | | Use cases (application) | Application-specific scenarios that orchestrate entities, plus the ports (interfaces) they need | Entities | | Interface adapters | Controllers, presenters, gateways, repository implementations, mappers between external and internal formats | Use cases and entities | …

How to install
mdr add dayfinggg/openai-codex-agent-skills/applying-clean-architecture@sha256:9a5ee03ab0f8e383The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261015.18f69f5, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
