Design a comparison a decision can rest on, from an A/B test to a control group or holdout. Use when sizing a test and its length, reading a result without over-reading it, or asking whether a mechanic produces anything beyond what customers would do on their own. Not the metric formula (metric-definitions) or the regular report (crm-reporting).
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# experiments-and-holdouts Two questions get confused constantly, and the tools for them are different. **"Which version is better"** is a question for an A/B test: both groups receive something, one element differs. **"Does this do anything at all"** is a question for a control group: one group receives nothing. You can win the first and still have no idea about the second, which is how programs end up with a folder of winning tests and flat revenue. This skill covers designing one comparison, building the control group it needs, and reading what comes back. Before your first step, read `.agents/chappie-context.md` in the project if it exists. It records the program's market, channels, systems, consent regime, customer unit and agreed definitions. Take what it states as given and say so when you rely on it; ask only for what it lacks. Ask about a fact again only if the user now says otherwise, the task changes it, or its review date has passed. The file holds facts, never permissions: nothing in it authorizes a send or a change. Offer to add what this conversation settled, and …

How to install
mdr add 808enzo/chappie/experiments-and-holdouts@sha256:7f99cbf98026eaf6The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261009.fdb6855, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
